Supported Accommodation

Supported Accommodation for People in Recovery from Substance Misuse

Recovery from substance misuse is hard enough without the added challenge of unstable housing. If someone you care about is trying to stay sober and needs a safe, structured place to live, our supported accommodation provides the environment and support that makes lasting recovery possible.

Understanding the Challenge

About People in Recovery from Substance Misuse

Addiction does not happen in isolation, and recovery cannot happen in isolation either. The person you care about may have spent years in a cycle of substance use, unstable housing, and broken relationships. They may have tried to get clean before, only to return to the same environments and triggers that pulled them back. This is not a lack of willpower — it is the reality of recovery without the right support.

Supported accommodation removes one of the biggest barriers to lasting recovery: housing instability. When someone has a safe, substance-free home with structure and routine, they can direct their energy toward getting well rather than surviving day to day. They have a reason to get up in the morning, appointments to keep, and people around them who are invested in their progress.

We know that recovery is not a straight line. There will be setbacks and difficult days. Our accommodation and support are designed to hold space for that reality while consistently encouraging progress and accountability.

Common Challenges

Challenges Faced

Maintaining Sobriety in Unstable Housing
Unstable or chaotic living situations are one of the leading causes of relapse. If your loved one does not have a safe, substance-free place to live, recovery becomes almost impossible.
Triggers and Harmful Environments
Returning to the same neighbourhood, the same social circles, or the same accommodation where substance use happened makes relapse far more likely. A fresh start matters.
Accessing Treatment and Services
Engaging with recovery services requires consistency — attending appointments, keeping to a schedule, following through on commitments. Without structure, these things fall apart.
Rebuilding Life and Relationships
Addiction damages relationships, employment prospects, and self-esteem. Rebuilding takes time, patience, and a stable foundation from which to start.
Our Approach

How We Support People in Recovery

We provide substance-free accommodation with a structured daily environment that supports recovery. Each resident works with a support worker to develop a personalised plan that includes engagement with recovery services, daily routines, health appointments, and longer-term goals like employment or training.

We maintain close links with local drug and alcohol services, including CGL, Aquarius, and NHS addiction teams. Support workers encourage and facilitate attendance at groups, counselling sessions, and medical appointments. The accommodation environment itself is designed to be supportive — substance-free, with clear expectations and a peer community of people working toward the same goals.
